Fresh ASDA plans go to Todmorden Town Council on Wednesday - but is this another wind up?

This is the fresh application on the ASDA planning application for you to view in full, it is the role of the Town Council’s Development Committee to make a preliminary recommendation but my guess is that it will go through on the nod. The Town Council had backed Calderdale Council’s decision granted permission previously, which lapsed, and the inclusion of two additional petrol pumps to compete with the robbing swine down on Halifax Road garage will no doubt make the proposal popular amongst locals.
It comes before the Town Council on Wednesday, at 7.30pm. Todmorden Town Hall, Committee Room C.
I have really said all I need to say on the subject, in countless Fighting Back newsletters, it is too close to the market and does not provide the necessary number of jobs needed to justify the imposition of this on the site of two buildings that should be renovated and put to use to the community.
We should have approved ASDA’s earlier plan to build on Halifax Road. It would have not even affected the market and the only place to close would have been Abid’s shop. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing I couldn’t possibly comment. The market traders feel differently, and if they would rather commit economic suicide than be seen to agree with me then there is nothing I can do to stop them.
Let’s hope ASDA buy the building and then stick two fingers up to the Council by sitting on it and flogging it in ten years time. My original piece is on the Town Centre is here. The market traders
