If the Liberals really want to win Todmorden Ward this May, you would think they would dump Champagne Chris, who has taken to stealing other people's intellectual property to sound good at the Town Council.
Todmorden’s Town Hall Development Committee voted to refuse planning permission to the fresh designs for an ASDA which included a petrol station. The petrol station was the only positive aspect to these plans, but a group of objectors posing as “local residents” but more likely members of the Labour Party made their objections. It was voted down unanimously. Concerns about the ugly architectural designs were also raised.
Interesting to note, no Town Hall report can be made without including the antics of Champagne Chris Baksa, their gaffe-prone Stoodley Councillor. He read out what appeared to be a well heeled objection, but this mini-speech turned out to be nicked from somebody’s facebook page, this we know because it appeared word for word in the Todmorden News letter page under the name of Saul Cauldwell. Ouch!
Not only does Baksa apparently like to steal other people’s intellectual property, but also takes it from my own page to add to his anonymous hate page he has created about me. I advise he use a spell checker before trying that because he has a tendency to make the same spelling mistakes, and this account shares his birthday. Ouch again!
This decision can still be overturned at Full Council next week, and still if ratified, only stands as a recommendation to Calderdale Council, who can overturn it. Also a decision by Calderdale can be taken to appeal as well. With nine members of the public in attendance vs the six (of the twelve) members of the Development Committee - this is the first time ever the number of public had outnumbered the Councillors present.
Next week the Full Council meets to ratify this decision, it meets at 7.30 at Todmorden Town Hall, Wednesday.
